Zuzia Nova is a Scottish artist and illustrator who lives in a curious old house in the heart of Glasgow. Zuzia studied Painting & Printmaking at the Glasgow School of Art, where she graduated with Honours in 2012 and went on to work in a variety of creative jobs whilst working self-employed as an artist and illustrator. She currently works as a community arts tutor alongside her work as an illustrator.
Zuzia’s version of children’s illustration is unusual, mischievous and endearingly bizarre. She works across a range of media including sketchy graphite which she juxtaposes with bright fluorescence, moving between traditional and digital work. She loves inventing hybrid creatures and is inspired by clashing ideas like seen/unseen, natural/urban, magic/reality; with a good dash of silliness these themes are most often applied to stories of adversity and odd ones out. Her passions are character design and crafting little details in her tales for children to spot and run away with.
